i went out today and bought the sims 3.
got home. installed my new RAM, so now i have 3gb. i checked to make sure it installed correctly and it did.
then i (tried) to install ts3.
halfway through, it crashes.
again.
almost done ... it crashes.
then the third time it finally installs. so i go boot it up, and then it wants me to install a patch. i install it ...
halfway through, it crashes.
but the sims should have been installed right? yeah apparently it was, but when i try to load the cd it takes me to the installer.
say whaaaat?
now i'm installing it AGAIN. hopefully it works this time and the game will be worth it. :|

i haven't been around a lot recently, probably due to my lack of interest in TS2. i've kind of been browsing around for sims 3 stuff though since i remembered it's being released soon, and it looks awesome. i can't wait to get it. unfortunately it doesn't look like i'm going to be able to play it on my laptop since i only have a 2.0ghz processor when 2.4ghz is required for vista. bleh. my dad has an imac though so i'm going to ask him if i can install on it there. i don't think i'd mind. ;)

Secondly, I'm not going to be around at all on Thursday. I get to wake up at quarter past five, eat breakfast, have a cup of coffee, and then I'm off to school to board a bus at 5:45. And then I get to go all the way across the state into Eastern Mass/Upstate New York and look at dinosaur footprints and go into some caves! I have a friend that I'm going with though, so it should be (somewhat) fun. Hah. I get back at nine so I'm probably going to be conked out when I get home. And I have some real-life drama going on but nothing that would go outside of school, so if I come off as snippy ... please forgive me.

Anyway this entry was mostly just to post the house but I felt it needed some status-update substance-type stuff. Boy, I'm pretty tired after watching Arrested Development on Hulu all day. :P

Hi everyone. If you guys saw my last post you might know that the Sharmas didn't survive, unfortunately ... But I've packed up and moved on. From now you can find updates to my newest legacy at the_letourneaus. It's not plotty like the Sharma's ... I do enough writing at school, anyway. I just want something I can write easily that doesn't require extensive plotwork. If you guys don't like that kind of stuff, just don't read it. Updates for this won't come as quickly as Sharma updates have, because of school.

I won't be posting here whenever there's a LeTourneau update, so feel free to friend that journal if you wanna stay updated. Hope you guys enjoy. :)

Got my laptop back today. Got excited. Installed TS2. Loaded up AL, and what do you know. My graphics look like crap. I put them on high, and the game runs like a snail stuck in hot tar. And I can't adjust smooth edges, so my game is stuck looking all choppy and crap. I'm going to look into this tomorrow. I only have Double Deluxe, Seasons, and Apartment Life installed. It's the same computer, just not glitchy and borked. So where'd you go, good graphics?

And have access to a crowbar, hammer ... oh, and a catsuit.

Ugh. On Friday we took my laptop over to Best Buy to get it fixed/checked out/whatever. The guy thought it was a virus at first. Then he was like "Um, no. The hard drive is fried!" And I'm thinking "Shiiiiit." All I'd backed up was the actual core game files. No simmies ... no Sharma's! OH NO! So now they're sending it to Kentucky (WHY?) to perform some sort of diagnostic scan or whatever. So hopefully I'll have my laptop back in a week, two weeks tops. But for now, I'm on my old computer. Ew.

1.78 GHz processor, and ... 728 MB of RAM. lolwut? How the hell did I ever play Base Game - FreeTime with SPs on this thing? Anyway. It's slow. The keyboard is awkward. The monitor is very high contrast and it's kinda borked so I can't adjust it. But it's better than nothing. I want my laptop back! I've tried meshing on this computer, but mah gawd ... it's so slow! Oh, more bad news.

So you know how I took the core game files (the ones you find under Program Files) and burned them onto disks? Well. As it turns out, burning the files to disks don't work. You got all the files the game needs to run ... just, uh, they don't show up in-game. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG UGGGGGGGGGG UGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! H&M stuff, which was like my primary EP/SP for all future mesh ideas I had in mind, won't work. I know how to access the .gmdc files which can be converted into .simpe files in game and stuff, but that's tedious and annoying. Grr. Nathan smaaash!

Finally, the first week is over. It wasn't so bad. Just boring ... I don't wanna go back to work! Ugh. Science looks hard this year. My teachers are all really nice, so that's a plus of course. My English teacher "doesn't believe in homework" so we're graded on our classwork instead, which is cool. I was sick the second day, that wasn't fun. I still have to make up my science quiz and crap. Anyway!

We took my laptop to Best Buy to get fixed. Well, I thought it was "let's return this broken thing" as opposed to "let's fix it". So, in 3-10 business days I will either have my laptop back, or we'll use our warranty and get another laptop. The thing is, I don't think I have the Sharma's backed up to a CD. Uuuhh ... ruh-roh. I have Rupie, Swarna, and Sanjay on MediaFire. I just hope they don't get culled, because I need them. I might need to ask those of you that have Swarna / Sanjay (I don't think I released Rupie) to upload me a copy ... haha. I hope that all works out.

So at the moment, I'm on my "old" computer. This is the computer I simmed on for four years ... all of my legacies pre-Sharma have been on this computer. Somewhere in the deep abysses of my computer, the Medical Marvels resides. I doubt any of you all remember them though, haha. Anyway. I made a sim, and I have a picture. I won't be making CC until I get my laptop back, since I don't have a registered copy of MilkShape on this computer. Anyway, now for the pic!

School's in session as of tomorrow. Fun fun fun for everyone, riiight? I have a bit of summer homework to finish now that will take me five minutes. I'm iffy about going back to school. I don't like the work, obviously, but I need some structure. But every year, my dad tries to enforce the same set of rules. And they last a few weeks, and I guess that's an accomplishment when you're trying to make sure four boys adhere to them. The rules are essentially, "NO TEKNOLOGIEZZ!!!111oneoneone 4 TEH WEEKDAYZ". Which means school days. And apparently, I'm supposed to be getting straight A's or I can't use my laptop. Which I now can only use on the weekends.

Granted, this rule doesn't last long. Three, sometimes even for weeks. But geez, it's annoying. I'm going to be busy anyway with play rehearsal and homework crap, but it's kind of annoying. I see my friends at school, but there's this new thing called EMAIL ... oh, wait, I'm not talking to my dad. Anyway, this isn't a rant as much as a notice ... you probably won't be seeing much of me on weekdays (Monday - Friday Afternoon) for most of September. On the bright side, only five more years 'til college!

ETA: On the other hand, I guess it will be nice not using the computer and stuff. It's good to have a break. :)

Okay, so I was on ModTheSims2 today, checking my PMs ... and OMGOMGOMGWTFBBQ! You know the site Phasmatic Sims? Well, apparently they're doing a bit of remodeling ... but kiki, the site owner, asked me if I'd like to JOIN AS A CREATOR! EEE! So exciting!! Haha, suuuper hyper right now. Yay! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY IT'S LIKE I DOWNED 10 PACKETS OF SPLENDA!!!!!!

First order of business, shamelessly plug my newest upload to MTS2! Sweatersweatersweatersweater rockin' everywhere. Some new sweater for your sweater-inclined simmies who also happen to love stripy leggings and long heels! It's like the 70s, 80s, and 90s banded together with EAxis and created the ultimately cute fashion disaster! YAY! YAY YAY YAY! Seriously, I love these. I can say that because all I did was convert them. I'm now realising I never tested for a fat mesh ... uh ... I hope it works!

From now on, real-life journals will have my spiffy coffee avatar. You know, to differentiate the journals you want to read, and the journals you feel obligated to read because you're a good caring person. I say that like all of my real-life journals will be rants, which they probably will be. But maybe someday I'll bake a cake with rainbows, marshmallows, and unicorn intestines and post it in the form of a journal entry. Then you will all eat it, and you will be happy despite some indigestion. Sound good? Good. Here we go.

Woke up this morning. When I tried to get up, I couldn't move my neck. Well, I could, but it hurt like hell. My mom came down to wake me up (need to realign my sleeping schedule for school) and, apparently, I pulled my trapezius muscle. So right now I'm in bed propped up on a pile of pillows. Hopefully the pain will go down, but ... yowch. PAIN: DO NOT WANT. MOAR TYLENOL: DO WANT.

Yes, yes. Now for my SUPARKEWL ANNOUNCEMNT! I have successfully completed my first mesh! I've meshed it, UV mapped it, textured it, changed it when it exploded in Bodyshop, and glitch-tested it in-game ... and with a minimal amount of head-desk/smashy type interactions! Yay! The past 2 1/2 days have meshed together (HA HA HA PUN!) into one big blob of Milkshape, SimPE, and Bodyshop. But it was worth it (I hope) and I now have my first mesh, and I think I can call myself somewhat-mesh competant now. Huzzah.

Now, you're probably all wonderful what my mesh looks like, riiiight? WRONG! No, right. I think. Anyway, it's nothing super-fancy. It's pretty basic, I combined two meshes into one mesh. I hope to do some recolours tonight and (maybe) submit it ModTheSims2 after I finish up the preview pics, which of course have to abide by their many many standards. But hey, whatever, I'm cool with it. Anyway, onto the pic. By the way, did you know how fricking hard it was to get Gadwin to run for more than five seconds while my computer spazzed out (read the previous entry for more info)? Very hard. Onto the picture.

Computer problems started on Saturday night, and now they're 10 times worse. I can't open any folders for more than five seconds without Vista hiding the system tray (the explorer bar?) and shutting all of my programs down. It's FRICKING FRUSTERATING. It all started when I installed Blender. Uninstalled it right away, and the problems persist. I can't open my Control Panel for more than five seconds either, so I can't defragment my C drive or unistall any programs. We might just have to take my computer back for a new one (we have a warranty).

But how the hell am I expected to save all of my files? I can't open any of my folders! I have Sanjay and (I think) Rupinder up on MediaFire, and I might have Swarna up there too. But how am I just going to start over with Sanjay? I had a whole plot and everything all imagined up and now my computer decides to spiral down into its own demise. Great. Just great. According to Norton I have no viruses. WTF? Something must be going wrong. I really wanna punch something. 

EDIT: Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaat? I ran the Task Manager, manually loaded explorer, then shut it down. Now everything works fine. Very peculiar. Anyway, I'm taking this oppurtunity to unistall programs that might be causing problems and back up my sims. So wish me luck!

I've started meshing this week. So far so good. Got a few meshes working, actually, and they didn't look too bad either. I think it would have helped if I hadn't accidentally deleted it. I still have the mesh saved and everything, so I can recover them. I'm trying to make a new shirt, which is proving harder than expected. Much harder. Anyway, it's a bit past midnight and my thoughts are completely unorganized, so I'll work on them tomorrow. Then I'll work on Sharma Repayment, promise!

So, I'm tired but I can't sleep. Self inflicted insomnia or something. But hey, on the bright side ... uh, all of the lights in my room are on? Oh! I made a forum. Right now I'm busy setting it up and stuff, but hopefully in a few days it'll be unveiled. So ...
